t would be better for stores to enter the label expiration dates and eliminate the sell by date zones. If stores only had to enter the expiration date once for a group of items instead of every item they scan that would be even better. Here are the reasons we think this is the right direction: • Store associates may not subtract the right number of days from the sell by date to determine when it was produced, and could easily enter the wrong date. • There is a step already built in ADC to select either Central or Store produced items. o This step gives us the traceability needed for both Central Mfg. Beef, and for the primal pieces scanned by the stores (i.e., Australian, Local and a few from OWB Brandt). • If we know where the item was cut (Central or Store) and we know the product expiration date then it is fairly simple to determine where/when it was produced.
